Fuchs untitled painting
The untitled aquarelle on canvas, 46.5 x 29 cm, was created at the beginning of his time in the academy and shows unmistakable influences of Pablo Picasso, who was then regarded as a model for many art students. Nevertheless, there is also an independent interpretation.
Ernst Fuchs was an artistic prodigy. His early drawings are rightly regarded as ingenious and withstand any comparison with other graphic manifestations of the 20th century.
Ernst Fuchs est né en 1930 à Vienne. Il était peintre, graphiste, sculpteur, scénographe, compositeur, auteur, philosophe et visionnaire – un assortiment d’art aux talents divers et débordants. Comme son père était juif et qu’il a dû fuir à Shanghai après l' »Anschluss » de l’Autriche, Ernst Fuchs, alors âgé de huit ans, a été accueilli avec hostilité et baptisé en 1942 pour être catholique romain. Il choisit lui-même son nom de baptême : Ernst Peter Paul, d’après Rubens, son peintre préféré. Dès 1942, à l’âge de douze ans, Ernst Fuchs reçoit l’enseignement du dessin et de la peinture d’Alois Schiemann. De 1946 à 1950, il étudie à l’Académie des Beaux-Arts de Vienne ; son professeur est Albert Paris Gütersloh. Avec ses condisciples Wolfgang Hutter, Arik Brauer, Anton Lehmden et le plus âgé Rudolf Hausner, il a fondé l' »École de réalisme fantastique de Vienne »
