Fuchs untitled painting
The untitled aquarelle on canvas, 46.5 x 29 cm, was created at the beginning of his time in the academy and shows unmistakable influences of Pablo Picasso, who was then regarded as a model for many art students. Nevertheless, there is also an independent interpretation.
Ernst Fuchs was an artistic prodigy. His early drawings are rightly regarded as ingenious and withstand any comparison with other graphic manifestations of the 20th century.
Ernst Fuchs nació en 1930 en Viena. Fue pintor, artista gráfico, escultor, escenógrafo, compositor, autor, filósofo y visionario: un surtido de arte con talentos diversos y desbordantes. Como su padre era judío y tuvo que huir a Shanghai tras el «Anschluss» de Austria, el entonces niño de ocho años Ernst Fuchs fue recibido con hostilidad y bautizado en 1942 como católico romano. Él mismo eligió su nombre de bautismo: Ernst Peter Paul, en honor a Rubens, su pintor favorito. A partir de 1942, cuando tenía doce años, Ernst Fuchs recibió clases de dibujo y pintura de Alois Schiemann. De 1946 a 1950 estudió en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Viena; su profesor fue Albert Paris Gütersloh. Junto con sus compañeros Wolfgang Hutter, Arik Brauer, Anton Lehmden y el mayor Rudolf Hausner, fundó la «Escuela de Realismo Fantástico de Viena»
